Physical connection question

Post by threshold »

Hi all,

I am new to voip and this is the first time i am about to setup a UC540 for SIP voip.

Our SIP service provider delivered us two media gateway devices. One used for ADSL internet and one for SIP VoIP.

Our cisco uc540 consists of 2 BRI ports and 4 FXS. Our service provider is not aware of the uc500 series thus cannot provide us with any help. They said that i should have one router that will connect on the ADSL gateway for internet and one VOICE router that should be connected on the SIP device to provide voice services.

My question is how can this be accomplished with the uc540? I mean having working together Internet and SIP VoIP on the same device? If yes how should i connect the 3 devices physically?

Our service provider has given me an IP Address scheme for the ADSL connection , an IP Address and gateway for the voice and the SIP Server IP Address. They are not using authentication credentials.

Thanks

Hello,

I don't want to swamp you with tons of information here, the easiest for you is to read this article, and follow the step-by-step guide to the setup:

Let me know if it works!
