Is it okay to prep for an 1841 router by learning 1700 first

Hi all,

I've just been tasked with learning how to configure and manage 1841 routers. I downloaded GNS3 to begin to familiarize myself with networking and configuring routers, but I noticed that GNS3 only lists the c1700 series.

Will this work for learning the basics? I guess I'm assuming the same version of IOS doesn't run on the 1841. So will there be enough similarities between the versions?

Secondly, in case both routers can run the same IOS, is there any issue with obtaining the IOS from an 1841 to use within GNS3 for training purposes?

Thanks for your help.

Yes it is right that if you want to know about 1841 router then you must have knowledge about 1700 first. Because without knowing about 1700 you are unable to know about 1841.
