SFP port status on C2960 when use Fiber optic terminal

Post by donglee » Wed Apr 02, 2014 4:25 am

I've a question regarding the SFP port's status on C2960 when using a fiber optic terminal.

I want connect two WS-C2960-24PC-L via SFP of single-mode fiber, and between these two switches there probaboly has fiber terminal 1, 2.
the draft connectivity will be like attached.

my question is if switch2's up-port3 is disconnected, then what's the status on switch1's up-port1?
it is to be down/down or up/up or ?

I've seen that down/down at up-port3, and up/up at up-port1 in some case.
can any one explain to me that specific function of the fiber terminal?

Thank you and regards,
Regards,
Dong
