ASA 7.2(2) and snmp

Postby Guest » Thu Nov 25, 2010 6:23 am

Hi all, I just put 7.2(2) software on a ASA 5540. I have some snmp servers on the outside interface. When I configure these server there is no problem, but then I can't save configuration because i get an error:

1# wr mem

Building configuration...

Cryptochecksum: xxx

%Error reading system:/running-config (Configuration line too long)

Error executing command

[FAILED]

Is this a bug or did syntax change?

How big/long your ASA configuration? The error message in bracket "Configuration line too long" may be a clue for the error.

Try to remove the newly added lines, or any less important parameres, save it and see if you get the same error again.

It's not a configuration lenght problem, adding or removing other lines has no effect.

It's just with "snmp-server Outside ...."

Thank you anyway

It is a bug. Configure max 3 snmp servers, or max 6 snmp servers, it depends on soft version.

I ran into the same problem on our ASA5520 on v7.2(2).  We had 7 snmp servers on our pix515e's on 6.35 that we replaced with the ASA's.  We had to pair our snmp server list down to only 3  :(
