Scott,

> The only thing I cold think of was to prevent someone taking the same test over and over to do a really really early re-certification.

Actually for CCIE recertification purpose, one must wait 24 months between passed exams!

Hi Urfan,

Just to add a note to the great answers from Scott and Thomas.+5 points for both of you for this and all of your excellent work here!

This does not prevent you from taking any of the other CCNP exams as soon as you are ready. Only the BSCI would carry this caveat. So any of these others is wide open to try :)

642-812 BCMSN  Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN)

642-825 ISCW  Implementing Secure Converged Wide Area Networks (ISCW)

642-845 ONT  Optimizing Converged Cisco Networks (ONT)

Hope this helps! And as my friend Scott nicely noted, Happy Holidays!

If you pass ANY Cisco certification exam, you are not allowed to retake it before 180 days.

If you FAIL, then you could retake it having to wait just 5 days.

Both are true.
